FAQs

What is the difference between a psychotherapist and a psychologist ?

A psychologist must earn a doctoral degree and can assess and diagnose mental health problems. A psychotherapist obtains a Master’s degree, mainly provides talk-therapy, and cannot diagnose or prescribe medications.

How is therapy beneficial?

Therapy encourages open and honest dialogue about issues that cause you distress. Together, we will work to identify and understand how these stressors are impacting your life, plus develop strategies to manage the symptoms. Anyone can enjoy the benefits of therapy, whether you want to set life goals or establish healthy relationships. You don’t need to be in a crisis to get support.

How long is each therapy session?

Sessions are 50 minutes in length.

How many sessions should I attend?

Therapy can be short-term dealing with immediate issues or long-term dealing with more longstanding, complex issues. Typically, it can range anywhere between 5-20 sessions. You are encouraged to share how you feel about your progress, and it is always your decision whether to stop sessions or continue.

Will my insurance cover therapy?

I am a Registered Psychotherapist. Services may be covered in full or in part by your extended health insurance or employee benefits plan. It is important that you check with your insurance provider prior to your appointment to determine if you are eligible for coverage.

Do you direct bill?

No, but I will provide you with an invoice that you can submit to insurance for reimbursement.
